Alex and Selle

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Our love story as written by my DLSU berks: Au, Carissa, Macky, Meng and Peachy and narrated during our wedding’s reception (December 30, 2000).  Read on……

THE GROOM

TGIF does not hold true to young couple Rudy and Linda, for it was on a Sunday that they were blessed with the most precious gift anyone could ask for……..    a baby boy!  Alexander Joseph McCann Trinidad - quite a mouthful for the tiny tot who greeted the world with a loud wail on the morning of July 18, 1977.

Rudy and Linda had doted on their little Alex the moment they laid eyes on him, as evidenced by the loads of pictures which documented his life - from his first step, to his first day in school, to his first formal dance.  Before they know it, the boy who once played Mr. China in kindergarten had grown into a man. Gone are the toys and toothless grins, apple cuts and scraped shins.  Time has been kind to Alex, though, for after 23 years, he became the man his parents had always wanted him to be.

THE BRIDE

All good things come to those who wait…….

True enough, after two fine boys and long years of waiting, the Sagaran household welcomed baby girl Russelle when she entered the world an hour before midnight of March 2, 1978.  The little princess was the apple of everybody’s eyes, but Selle had not been spoiled by all the attention she got.  She remained sweet and kind, which made her all the more lovable.  Selle had always been her parents’ pride and joy.  The baby with the sweetest smile and the brightest eyes.  The little girl with the face of an angel and the grace of a ballerina.  Before long, she blossomed into a beautiful and intelligent lass who broke many hearts by simply flashing a smile.

And now, she’s ready to take the first step towards a new life.

Nevertheless, for Daddy Joe and Mommy Nita, Russelle will always be a little baby in their hearts.

ALEX AND SELLE

Each and everyone of us had dreamt, at some point in our lives, of finding the one… That one person who will make the sun shine brighter, the air smell sweeter… The one who could fix a gaze that will make you catch your breath.  While others spend a lifetime waiting in solitude, some have succumbed to the idea that that person simply does not exist. Only a few get to realize this dream… and the two of them are lucky indeed!

Finding the one after painstakingly going through a pack of could-have-been’s and close-enough’s is a colossal feat in itself.  But Alex and Selle have managed to do away with the eternal search, for early on in their lives, they have found each other.

Some might think that marriage has come too soon, but this love affair was not developed overnight. Theirs is a story like one you can find either in Sweet Dreams or Love Stories, eventually evolving into something like an obra maestra from Judith McNaught.  Treading into the sanctity of a bond that’s been in existence for over seven years, it’s dawning dates back to January 12, 1994.  They saw that relationships get dull and boring over time, yet somehow, there are a few brave enough who refute this theory, either by chance or by choice.  Alex and Selle are a couple belonging to the elite group.  But of course, not everyday was all roses and chocolates for these two.  They have had their share of joys and pains, of wars and games.  But their love for each other proved to have conquered them all.

Looking at them now, all starry-eyed and deliriously happy, we are left with blissful thoughts that will mark our lives forever.  To some, a reminder of how it was like to be in their shoes.  To others, a promise of true and unending love… or maybe a whisper of a dream that will soon come true.

Baby Deion’s Birthday

Monday, June 6th, 2005

Whew! One and a half months to go and my baby Deion will soon turn 1 year old.  How fast time flies!  About a year ago, July 13, 2004, I unexpectedly gave birth to a 1021 grams baby boy (imagine, that’s only 1.02 kilos!) .  He wasn’t supposed to go out of this world yet.  I was just 7 months pregnant then.  My due date was supposed to be 2nd week of September.  But God had a different plan….  I gave birth prematurely because I had pre-eclampsia (my blood pressure rose to 200/160!  which prompted my untimely labor).  That experience was really… as in really…. unforgettable! Not only for me but for Alex as well.   That if you’ll ask us now if we want to have another baby…. well,  we’d think not only twice but a hundred times if we’d really like another one.

But after that experience, I was overwhelmed with joy to see that my son survived it all.  And now, I look forward to go home from work everyday, just to kiss and hug Deion and see how fast he grows…. and be awestruck with his developments.  If you’ll see him now,  you won’t think that he’s premature.  In fact, he’s so cute and so smart.  Teach him a thing or two and he’ll pick it up immediately.

So, on his 1st birthday, as a thanksgiving, together with our relatives, we’ll have a mass and a small party at home on July 13.  And on July 16, Deion’s going to have a kiddie party at McDonald’s, Las Pinas.  This is our way of celebrating and thanking the Lord for giving us a cute, healthy and smart bouncing baby boy!

First Timer

My first post! Gosh! Is this me?  Do I really want to have my own blog?  I am now officially joining the world of bloggers!  Can I live up to this?  Well, lets see…..  I think I’ve got stories to tell and thoughts to share.

I’ve been told by my writer friend, Jude (he actually has his own very interesting blog www.livejournal.com/users/ccunnings) to start creating my own blog since the start of the year, but I still didn’t feel like doing it.  But now, I guess I have to try it right?  As they say, there’s no harm in trying.

Let me just learn the ropes here and soon I’ll be one of the pros. : )  ‘Til next time….
